How is Continuous Carbonless Paper Made to Work?

Carbonless paper is coated with special chemicals so that when you write or imprint on the top white paper it copies through to the second or subsequent copies. The back part of the first sheet of paper is coated with Microcapsules of ink or micro-encapsulated dye while the top of the second sheet is coated with a reactive clay layer. This is how the carbonless paper creates multiple copies when you write on then with pressure.

The standard size of the width is 9.5" with the tracks on the edges, each side with 1/2" margin tracks that are perforated and can easily be torn off.
